Progress Made Towards Declaring Southern Stretch of RRR as National Highway

Significant progress has been made towards declaring the southern portion of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), covering 182 km from Choutuppal to Sangareddy, as a national highway. Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has instructed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to initiate the process for this declaration following discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

While the northern part of the RRR had already been designated as a national highway, Mr. Gadkari responded to Mr. Reddy’s request by directing NHAI to seek proposals for the southern stretch. During the meeting in New Delhi, the Chief Minister also advocated for the upgradation of various State highways to national highways and presented a list of such roads requiring expansion to Mr. Gadkari.

Additionally, discussions focused on resolving the deadlock between the State and Central governments over the funding for the relocation of utilities along national highway expansion routes. Mr. Gadkari assured the Chief Minister of Central government support and emphasized the need for expediting land acquisition and policy-related matters related to the RRR.
