Private Vehicles Used Commercially Seized at Chennai Airport

Transport officials in Chennai have taken action against the commercial use of private vehicles at Chennai airport. The Commissionerate of Transport and Road Safety received reports of private vehicles, including those from other parts of the state, being used for commercial passenger transport at the airport.

In response, a team led by the Joint Commissioner of Enforcement conducted inspections around the airport, revealing that several cars, including SUVs, were transporting passengers to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Over six vehicles, including four from Andhra Pradesh, were detained and parked at the Meenambakkam testing ground for further action. Further inspections are planned at major railway stations to prevent the commercial use of private vehicles.
