Prime Minister Modi Stresses Dialogue and Diplomacy at Voice of Global South Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Voice of Global South Summit, reiterating India’s condemnation of the October 7 Hamas terror attack against Israel. However, he emphasized the importance of “dialogue, diplomacy, and restraint” in addressing the conflict while condemning civilian casualties. Modi highlighted India’s commitment to humanitarian aid, citing the dispatch of aid to Palestine after discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas.
Launching ‘DAKSH-IN,’ the Global South center of excellence, Modi underscored the need for unity among Global South nations. He expressed concern that technological advancements, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, should not widen the gap between the Global North and the Global South. Modi announced India’s plan to organize the Artificial Global Partnership Summit next month.
He emphasized the historic emergence of the Global South’s voice, calling for cooperation under the framework of “consultation, communication, cooperation, creativity, and capacity building.” The summit aims to discuss challenges posed by global developments and foster a more inclusive world order ahead of the virtual G20 Summit.
