President Murmu Highlights Civil Servants’ Role in Policy Making and National Development on Civil Services Day

On Civil Services Day, President Droupadi Murmu praised the important role civil servants play in making policies and helping the country grow. She spoke at a special event held in New Delhi to celebrate the day and honor the hard work of India’s civil servants.

President Murmu said that civil servants help turn government plans into action. They visit villages, meet people, and understand the problems that citizens face. Then they give ideas and help leaders make better policies. She explained that good policies lead to better roads, schools, hospitals, and jobs for the people.

She also told young officers to stay honest, work hard, and treat everyone equally. “You must serve the nation with dedication and fairness,” she said. She asked them to use technology to solve problems faster and serve people more effectively.

During the event, the government gave awards to some civil servants for their excellent work. These officers worked on projects that improved water supply, education, health care, and digital services in different parts of the country. President Murmu gave them medals and certificates, and she encouraged others to learn from their work.

She also reminded everyone that civil servants connect the people with the government. “You must listen to the citizens and make sure they benefit from every scheme,” she said. She added that teamwork, transparency, and commitment are key to good governance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent a message for the occasion. He thanked civil servants for their service and asked them to keep working for a strong and developed India.

Civil Services Day is observed every year on April 21 to recognize the efforts of India’s civil servants. It marks the day when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister, addressed civil service officers in 1947 and called them the “steel frame” of the country.

The event ended with a pledge by all officers to continue serving the country with honesty, passion, and responsibility.
