Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, commonly known as Prachanda, clinched a vote of confidence in Parliament despite the boycott by the main opposition Nepali Congress. Amidst allegations against Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane, Prachanda secured 157 votes out of 275, ensuring a majority in the House of Representatives.
The Nepali Congress abstained from voting, demanding an investigation into Lamichhane’s purported involvement in a financial scandal. Despite hurdles and the withdrawal of support from a coalition partner, Prachanda’s government surpassed the required threshold of 138 votes, reaffirming his leadership amid political challenges.
