Political Worker Accuses Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna of Rape and Blackmail

A 44-year-old political worker has accused JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, the Member of Parliament from Hassan, of raping her multiple times between January 2021 and April 2024. She alleged that Revanna threatened to kill her and her husband if she didn’t comply. According to her complaint to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Revanna recorded the sexual acts and blackmailed her with the footage, forcing her into multiple sexual encounters.

The woman claimed she had not reported the incidents earlier due to fear for her and her husband’s lives. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up by the Karnataka government to look into multiple allegations of sexual abuse against Prajwal Revanna. Revanna has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, assault, and use of criminal force against a woman, along with sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
