Political Controversy Erupts After Deadly Blast at Illegal Firecracker Factory in West Bengal

Following a fatal explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, a political dispute has arisen, with accusations and counter-accusations between parties. Seven people were killed and several injured in the blast. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the state administration was downplaying the death toll, alleging the involvement of ruling Trinamool Congress members in the illegal operation.

Trinamool Congress defended itself, asserting that not all firecracker factories are illegal and highlighting the livelihoods of those involved. The incident has raised questions about local authorities’ awareness and action against the illegal operation. The All India Secular Front (AISF) leader Ramzan Ali was implicated, and local residents protested against police inaction despite complaints. Both Trinamool Congress and AISF members traded blame, further escalating the political controversy surrounding the tragedy.
