A police constable was injured during a hit-and-run incident in Secunderabad while checking vehicles for violations of the model code of conduct for upcoming assembly elections. The incident took place when the constable signaled a speeding car to stop, but the driver ignored the order, knocked down the constable, and fled the scene.
The injured constable, Mahesh, was promptly taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition. The incident, captured on video, has garnered attention on social media. Police have initiated a search to locate the car involved. Over the past 10 days, intensive checks to enforce the model code of conduct have resulted in the seizure of cash, gold, liquor, and other items worth over Rs 264 crore, according to the Chief Electoral Officer.
