PM Modi Heads to South Africa for BRICS Summit and Greece Visit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a trip to South Africa on Tuesday to participate in the 15th BRICS summit, scheduled for August 22. Invited by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Modi stated that BRICS has become a platform for addressing concerns of the Global South, emphasizing cooperation across various sectors and multilateral system reform.
He highlighted the significance of identifying future areas of cooperation and institutional development. The Prime Minister also mentioned participation in BRICS–Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue events during his stay in Johannesburg.
Subsequently, Modi will visit Athens, Greece on August 25 at the invitation of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This visit aims to bolster ties based on shared values and various collaborations, marking Modi as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Greece in 40 years.
