Pinarayi Vijayan Denounces CAA as Violation of Constitution and Equates Situation to Historical Persecution

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala vehemently criticized the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA), denouncing it as a blatant violation of the Indian Constitution. Drawing parallels to historical injustices, Vijayan likened the current scenario in India to Hitler’s persecution of Jews, cautioning against the demonization of minorities, particularly Muslims. He accused the RSS and the Sangh Parivar of seeking to handle minorities akin to how Nazis treated Jews, alleging that the CAA was introduced to further this agenda.

Despite mounting opposition, Vijayan emphasized the determination of the Union government to push forward its divisive agenda, often resorting to crackdowns on dissent. Kerala, under Vijayan’s leadership, declared its refusal to implement the CAA and NPR, taking a defiant stand against what it perceives as unconstitutional laws. Additionally, Vijayan highlighted concerns regarding electoral bonds, labeling them as the country’s biggest scam and accusing the BJP government of corruption and attempts to suppress dissent, as evidenced by the detention of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
