Persistent Showers Marginally Reduce Rain Deficit in Several Tamil Nadu Districts
Persistent showers in various parts of Tamil Nadu over the past few days have slightly decreased the rain deficit in different districts. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai predicts scattered rain to continue in the state until Sunday, with some districts expecting heavy rain until Friday. With the southwest monsoon remaining active, wet weather is likely to persist until the end of the month.
Tamil Nadu has received 30.1 cm of rain this season, which is 6% above average and considered normal seasonal rainfall. However, some districts, like Kanniyakumari and Tiruppur, continue to face rain deficits exceeding 46%. The meteorological department anticipates light to moderate scattered rain to persist until the weekend, with specific districts experiencing heavy rainfall on certain days.
