Persistent Rainwater Stagnation and Infrastructure Issues in Velachery and Mugalivakkam

Residents of Tansi Nagar Second Street in Velachery face prolonged rainwater stagnation due to inadequate drainage, exacerbated by the street’s narrow and dead-end design. Despite the installation of two manholes intended to channel water to a nearby macro canal, backflow during heavy rains renders them ineffective.

In Mugalivakkam, the main access road to Mount Poonamallee Road and Porur has deteriorated again after being repeatedly dug up for stormwater drain and sewer works, causing significant inconvenience to residents and businesses. Local officials are urged to implement effective and lasting solutions to prevent further public fund wastage and improve living conditions.
