Perilous Pedestrian Passage on Old Royapuram Bridge
The Old Royapuram Bridge poses a tightrope walk for pedestrians, especially school students carrying heavy bags, as a narrow and precarious walkway forces them dangerously close to fast-moving traffic. For Parkour artists, such acrobatics might be second nature, but for ordinary pedestrians, it’s a treacherous undertaking.
The narrowness of the pavement on one side of the bridge leaves no room for two pedestrians to walk side by side, forcing them to step onto the carriageway. This hazardous situation puts pedestrians at risk of injury or worse, as they contend with vehicles passing in close proximity.
Urgent calls for widening the walkway and constructing a low barricade are raised to enhance pedestrian safety and prevent potentially fatal accidents.
