Palaniswami Alleges ₹1,000 Crore Liquor Scam in Tamil Nadu, Accuses DMK Government of Hiding the Truth
AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu of hiding a massive ₹1,000 crore liquor scam.
He claimed that the government misused its power to cover up the scam and protect those involved.
Palaniswami addressed the media recently and demanded a fair and thorough investigation. He said officials linked to the state-run TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation), which handles the sale of alcohol across the state, took part in the scam. According to him, the scam involved large-scale corruption in the purchase and distribution of liquor.
He blamed the DMK government for not taking action and for allowing the scam to grow under its watch. He also said the government failed to maintain transparency and honesty in managing public money. “This is people’s money, and the government has the responsibility to use it properly,” Palaniswami stated.
The AIADMK leader asked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to explain why the government did not act against the accused. He also urged the government to take strict action against those who misused their power and public funds.
Palaniswami warned that if the government does not respond, the AIADMK will organize protests and raise this issue at every level, including the Assembly. He said the party will not stay silent while such a large scam goes unnoticed and unpunished.
The opposition leader also appealed to the public and media to ask questions and seek the truth. He said the people of Tamil Nadu deserve to know how their money is being used.
This strong allegation from Palaniswami has sparked political tension in the state. The DMK government has not yet responded officially to the charges. Meanwhile, citizens and political observers are waiting for more details and for the government’s reaction.
The issue has raised serious concerns about corruption and accountability in government departments. The people now expect a clear and honest explanation from the ruling party.
