The International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed that the number of people entering Ethiopia from violence-hit Sudan has reached nearly 70,000. The ongoing armed conflict in Sudan has compelled hundreds of thousands of individuals to flee to neighboring countries, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
According to figures from the UN migration agency, as of July 23, more than 69,000 people have sought refuge in Ethiopia through multiple border crossing points in regions such as Amhara, Benishangul Gumz, and Gambella.
However, the situation poses challenges for aid workers due to heavy rains, making onward transportation and timely support difficult. Inadequate access to life-saving services like food, non-food items, water, and sanitation, and healthcare remains a pressing concern as the number of people crossing into Ethiopia continues to rise.
