More than 30 girl students at a hostel in the Vijayanagara district of Karnataka fell ill after consuming chicken for dinner. The incident occurred at the Matric ST Girls’ Hostel in Hospet town. Following the meal, the students developed symptoms including stomach ache, vomiting, and diarrhea.
They were quickly transferred to the Hospet government hospital, where 32 students were admitted for treatment. Out of the total of 148 students in the hostel, 131 had non-vegetarian food and 17 chose a vegetarian option. Authorities are investigating the cause of the illness, collecting blood samples from the students, and testing the chicken for any potential contamination.
The district commissioner has promised strict action against those responsible once the investigation is complete.
