Over 100 Buildings in Gurugram Operate Lifts Illegally

More than 100 buildings in Gurugram are operating lifts without obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the concerned department, according to an inspection by the Electrical Inspector’s Department of Registration. In the past eight months, only 200 buildings have registered their lifts, despite over 1,000 multi-story structures, including those with stilt parking, receiving possession certificates.

The department will take action based on reports from relevant authorities to verify the lifts installed in these buildings. The possession certificate report will be obtained from Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), the District Town Planner Planning Department, and the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG). Lift installation is allowed during building plan approval, and possession certificates are issued after building inspections.

The department noted that only 200 lifts have been registered in the last eight months, whereas multi-story buildings can have between two and 16 lifts, all of which must be registered as per regulations. The affected areas include sectors 46 to 57, Sushant Lok Phase-2 and 3, DLF Phase-1 to 3, Palam Vihar, and others within MCG limits.
