Opposition Unity on Display at Kerala’s Protest Against Centre’s Policies

The protest organized by the Kerala government against alleged attacks on federalism by the Centre saw a gathering of Opposition States at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alongside Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, led the demonstration. Senior political leaders such as Sitaram Yechury, D. Raja, Farooq Abdullah, and Kapil Sibal were also present, along with members of the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala.

Vijayan emphasized the importance of federalism and denounced attempts to portray the demands of states as a north-south divide issue. Kejriwal criticized the Centre for denying rightful allocations and using Governors to obstruct opposition-ruled states, calling for Prime Minister Modi’s explanation. Mann highlighted Punjab’s grievances and accused the BJP of communalizing the country.

The protest underscored opposition unity against perceived discrimination and threats to federal rights.
