Opposition MPs Protest Against Mass Suspension, March From Parliament
Opposition MPs staged a protest march from the old Parliament building to Vijay Chowk in central Delhi, expressing their discontent over the large-scale suspension of over 140 colleagues from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The protesters carried a banner reading “Save Democracy” and placards questioning the government’s actions.
The suspension of MPs came in response to demands for accountability from the ruling BJP regarding last week’s security breach. The opposition called for formal statements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who declined, citing national security concerns.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, leading the march, accused the BJP of lacking faith in democracy and reiterated the opposition’s request to address the security breach in Parliament.
