Opposition Leader Accuses CM of BJP Appeasement

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging his attempts to appease the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by orchestrating “pro-BJP statements” through Left Democratic Front convener E.P. Jayarajan. Satheesan claimed Vijayan’s actions stemmed from fear induced by ongoing investigations into his daughter’s alleged illegal payments from a private firm, alongside scandals like the Karuvannur Service Co-operative Bank scam and the Lavalin case.

Jayarajan’s recent assertion about BJP candidates’ strength in the Lok Sabha elections, according to Satheesan, was orchestrated by Vijayan to curry favor with the BJP, while deflecting attention from corruption allegations. Satheesan emphasized the need for Vijayan to address questions regarding the illegal payments case and criticized his silence on alleged corruption in other projects. He accused Vijayan of spreading falsehoods about the Congress’s stance on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), alleging the CPI(M) prioritized undermining the Congress and UDF over confronting the BJP.
