Opposition Demands School Closure in Goa Amid Red Alert for Incessant Rains

As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for incessant rains in Goa until Friday, the opposition in the state has called for the closure of schools during the period. Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the issue in the Assembly, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Sardesai urged the government to give a holiday to students due to the risky travel conditions caused by the heavy rains. Similarly, Alemao also urged the state government to declare holidays for schools in response to the red alert. In the aftermath of their demand, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he has instructed the Director of Education to assess the situation and take necessary action.
