Ohio Police Release Video of Black Man Saying “I Can’t Breathe” Before Death
Ohio police have released body camera footage showing the arrest of Frank Tyson, a 53-year-old Black man who died at a local hospital after repeatedly telling officers “I can’t breathe.” The incident, which occurred after Tyson was suspected of leaving the scene of a single-car accident, has drawn comparisons to the killing of George Floyd in 2020.
In the video, officers are seen pinning Tyson to the floor of a bar and handcuffing him, while he pleads for his life. Despite his cries of distress, officers continue to restrain him, and Tyson eventually becomes unresponsive. The officers then remove the handcuffs and perform CPR, but Tyson was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating the incident, and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. This incident once again raises questions about police brutality and the treatment of Black individuals by law enforcement.
