Norway Joins Denmark and Netherlands in Pledging F-16 Fighter Jets to Ukraine
Norway has become the third European nation, following Denmark and the Netherlands, to commit to providing Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced the donation, stating that details regarding the number of jets and delivery time frame will be disclosed later. Norway had initially announced its support for training Ukrainian personnel on F-16s earlier in May.
Additionally, Norway has pledged anti-aircraft missiles, de-mining sets, and $140.5 million to ensure gas and electricity supply in Ukraine. This brings the total value of Norway’s support over five years to $8.8 billion. The US has also approved the transfer of F-16 jets from Denmark and the Netherlands to Ukraine once Ukrainian pilots are fully trained. An alliance of Ukraine’s Western allies is set to train Ukrainian pilots, with preparations underway for their integration into the Ukrainian Air Force.
