Northeast Monsoon Anticipated to Reach Tamil Nadu in Three Days: IMD
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the southwest monsoon has officially retreated from Tamil Nadu, clearing the path for the northeast monsoon to make its entrance. According to S. Balachandran, Additional Director-General of Meteorology in Chennai, the northeast monsoon is expected to commence within three days.
However, the initial phase of this monsoon is predicted to be relatively weak, resulting in limited rainfall due to weather systems in both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. The state is likely to experience reduced rainfall for approximately one week. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has also forecast the intensification of two weather disturbances into depressions in the coming days.
