Nine College Students Arrested for Throwing Firecrackers at Guru Nanak College in Velachery
Nine college students have been arrested by the city police for their involvement in throwing firecrackers at a rival group of students within the campus of Guru Nanak College in Velachery. The incident occurred on Monday morning, resulting in no injuries.
The campus security in-charge, Renugammal, lodged a complaint at the Guindy police station, leading to a case being registered and an investigation being conducted. The initial arrests included S. Vikash and K. Dhanush, both aged 19, who were later remanded in judicial custody.
An additional seven individuals involved in the incident were arrested on Tuesday, identified as S. Manikandan, D. Varun, S. Sundar, K. Iyappan, C. Madhan, V. Dhanush Kumar, and R. Yuvaraj. The investigation found that Dhanush was the one who lit the firecrackers.
