NGT directs T.N. State CZMA to take a survey Kosasthalaiyar River based on the 1996 plan

The draft CZMA omits several ecologically sensitive areas in the Ennore region in order to take development activity. The southern bench of the National Green Tribunal has directed the T.N. State Coastal Zone Management Authority to resurvey the Kosasthalaiyar River in Ennore, Chennai.

Mahendran P filed a complaint about the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan that has omitted a lot of ecological zone areas in the Ennore region in order to take development activities. The NGT in an earlier judgement directed the TNSCZMA to use the 1996 plan for the Ennore Kosasthalaiyar river.

The tribunal directs the TNSCZMA to undertake the action of ground of using the baseline of 1996 and has adjourned the next hearing to July 28.
