Sri Venkateswara Swamyvari Devasthanam, popularly known as Chinna Tirupati, has announced plans to construct a temple pond, or ‘koneru’, near the temple premises atop the hillock. This initiative is part of the master development plan for the temple. The pond, an essential element in Lord Venkateswara Swamy temples for ritualistic purposes, will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹5.5 crore.
Scheduled to be 36×36 feet with a depth of about four feet, the pond will feature a U-shaped retaining wall. Since there is no natural water source nearby, a borewell will be dug to fill the pond, and beautification works in the surrounding area will also be undertaken. Additionally, the Devasthanam plans to organize spiritual and cultural programs near the pond, allowing devotees to spend more time in the evening.
