Officials in Mysuru district, Karnataka, rescued a Nepalese woman named Nirmala and her two children from bonded labor at a farm in Kailasapura village. The family had been working at the farm for over a year, facing exploitative conditions. The farm owner, Ere Gowda, allegedly set low daily wages and compelled them to work long hours.
Nirmala reported being assaulted, denied food and her children forced to work. Ere Gowda separated the couple, restricting communication. Following a raid led by district authorities, including Tehsildar Srinivas and officers from the Social Welfare and Tribal Development Departments, Nirmala and her children were rescued. Legal action is being pursued against the accused landlord.
