Nepal Seeks India’s Aid in Search for Missing Buses and Passengers After Devastating Landslide
Nepal has formally requested assistance from India to locate two buses and over five dozen passengers swept away by a landslide in central Nepal on July 12. The Ministry of Home Affairs in Nepal, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has asked for technical support, including divers and advanced search technologies.
This marks the first time Nepal has sought such assistance from India, having previously requested help from Bangladesh for similar operations. So far, 13 bodies have been recovered from the Trishuli River, with more still missing. The disaster, which occurred near Simaltal in Chitwan, has prompted a coordinated search effort across multiple districts. Identified victims include both Nepali and Indian nationals, underscoring the cross-border impact of the tragedy.
