Nepal Asserts its Map Must Be Respected Amidst China’s ‘Standard Map’ Release

The Nepal government has affirmed the importance of respecting its political and administrative map, unanimously approved by its federal Parliament in 2020, in response to China’s recent release of a ‘standard map.’ The map released by China has drawn criticism from Nepal for not recognizing the Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura areas as part of Nepali territory.

Nepal’s map, issued in May 2020, includes these areas, which are also claimed by India. Nepal stands firm on its map and is committed to resolving boundary matters through dialogue and diplomacy. This development comes as tensions rise over territorial disputes involving multiple countries in the region, including India and China.
