Nearly 400 Wildfires Ravage New South Wales, Australia

New South Wales (NSW), Australia, has witnessed almost 400 wildfires since September 29, according to local authorities. The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) reported a busy period for firefighters, with fires affecting multiple areas across the state, including the Bega Valley, Mid-Western, Hunter, and North Coast.

Three properties were confirmed destroyed in the Bega Valley region due to a major bushfire in Coolagolite. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns visited the region, urging residents to prepare for what they described as a potentially “horror summer.”

While the alert level for the Coolagolite fire was downgraded from “emergency” to “advice,” the NSW RFS cautioned communities to remain vigilant, as the fires continue to burn in various areas despite cooler temperatures and some rainfall.
