Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has accused the YSRCP government of politicizing the distribution of pensions ahead of the elections. Expressing his displeasure, Naidu criticized the government for limiting the number of door deliveries of pensions to 45 per employee, despite having sufficient staff. He alleged that the government’s decision to deposit pensions into bank accounts posed challenges for the elderly, especially in the scorching heat.
Naidu also blamed government officials for violating the Election Commission of India’s directive, emphasizing that they should be held accountable for the alleged deaths of 33 elderly persons due to the failure of pension distribution. He urged the ECI to monitor the YSRCP government’s activities to ensure a transparent democratic process and stressed the importance of equal opportunities for all political parties during the elections.
