Leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition alliance in Maharashtra have criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly pushing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ agenda during the upcoming Special Session of Parliament. Congress’ Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, accused the BJP government of running scared and trying to divert attention from pressing national issues.
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi questioned the need for a fourth committee on the issue, emphasizing that three committees had already submitted reports. She urged the government to address core issues like price rises, unemployment, and farmers’ concerns. NCP National Spokesperson Clyde Crasto raised concerns about the democratic process and called on the government to consult all stakeholders before pursuing such a significant change.
Congress’ former CM Prithviraj Chavan suggested that the BJP’s actions indicated a fear of the growing influence of the INDIA alliance. Sena MP Sanjay Raut pledged strong opposition to such moves at the upcoming INDIA Conclave.
