Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Toll Fixed at Rs 250 for Cars in Opening Year
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shivdi-Nhavasheva Atal Setu,’ is set to be inaugurated this month, and toll rates have been announced. The toll for cars in the first year will be Rs 250, a 50% reduction compared to standard road tax rates. The toll proposal received approval from the state Cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, with Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar in attendance.
The return pass for frequent travelers will be discounted by 50%, while daily and monthly passes will cost 2.5 times and 50 times Rs 250, respectively. The toll, collected by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), will be in effect for around 30 years to recover the project cost of Rs 21,200 crore, including a Rs 15,100 crore loan component.
The MTHL aims to significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity between Panvel and south Mumbai, benefiting commuters and reducing environmental impact.
