Motorists in Velachery, Chennai, are encountering significant difficulties as the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has dug multiple pits on Balamurugan Street and Sarathy Nagar for over a month. These large pits have considerably reduced the width of already narrow roads, leading to traffic congestion and safety risks for both drivers and pedestrians.
According to CMWSSB officials, the pits were excavated to address water pollution concerns. Once water quality is verified and any contamination issues are resolved, the pits will be closed. However, local residents, especially schoolchildren, continue to struggle with the ongoing road disruptions.
