A 30-year-old woman and her three-year-old child died after a concrete shed in the corridor of a building collapsed in west Delhi on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Mamta and her son, residents of Arihant Nagar in the Punjabi Bagh area. The building had been vacant and abandoned, but Mamta and her family had been living there as caretakers of the property for a few years.
The Punjabi Bagh police station received a distress call about the building collapse in Arihant Nagar. Upon reaching the location, the police found Mamta and the child trapped under the debris of the collapsed shed, both injured. The police team immediately responded to the situation, but unfortunately, Mamta and her son succumbed to their injuries.
A senior police official stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident. The incident highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and structural integrity of abandoned buildings to prevent such accidents in the future.
