Modern Sanitation Upgrade in Chennai by August 31

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to complete the construction of modern toilets at 372 locations across the city by August 31, enhancing public sanitation facilities. GCC Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan has been actively inspecting ongoing projects, including those near Chennai Central Railway Station and other key areas.

This initiative includes new constructions, minor and major restorations under the Swachh Bharat mission, and projects funded through the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model. Additionally, efforts are underway to prevent open defecation by installing toilets near waterbodies like Adyar Creek. The project aligns with broader urban development goals, including eco-restoration and the construction of modern markets.
