Model Arrested in Honey Trapping Case Involving Extortion and Threats in Bengaluru
A Mumbai-based model named Neha, also known as Meher, has been apprehended by the Karnataka police in connection with a honey-trapping case that involved extorting significant sums of money by coercing victims to convert to Islam and undergo circumcision. The arrest was made by the Puttenahalli police station in Bengaluru, where the incident transpired. Neha a.k.a Meher is believed to be the primary accused, and preliminary investigations have corroborated her involvement in the case.
The police’s narrative reveals that Neha targeted unsuspecting individuals, aged between 20 to 50 years, through the messaging platform Telegram. She lured them to her residence in J.P. Nagar’s fifth stage, donning a bikini to entice them. Once inside, the gang captured intimate moments and then forcibly entered the premises to capture more compromising pictures and videos of the victims with the model. The gang members confiscated the victims’ phones and recorded their contacts.
The gang employed a scheme where they threatened to share the explicit material with the victims’ contacts unless they paid up substantial amounts. The victims were further intimidated into getting married to the model, under the condition of converting to Islam and undergoing immediate circumcision. This disturbing extortion spree ended when one brave victim filed a police complaint.
The initial investigation revealed that the gang targeted and extorted 12 individuals. The police suspect the gang’s involvement in additional cases and are conducting a thorough inquiry. A search has been launched for another suspect named Nadeem.
