Mehbooba Mufti Criticizes NC’s Decision, Vows PDP Contest in All Kashmir Lok Sabha Seats
Expressing disappointment over the National Conference’s (NC) decision to contest all three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir unilaterally, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti asserted that her party has no choice but to field candidates in the upcoming elections. Mufti criticized the NC’s approach, stating that their decision left the PDP with no option but to contest, despite hopes of a cooperative seat-sharing arrangement.
Emphasizing the need for unity in Kashmir’s political landscape amidst challenging circumstances following the revocation of Article 370, Mufti highlighted the oppressive atmosphere prevailing in the region. She lamented the lack of consultation by the NC leadership before announcing their decision and expressed disappointment over the disrespectful manner in which the matter was handled. Mufti affirmed that the PDP’s parliamentary board would soon finalize candidates for the elections, underscoring the importance of letting the people decide the representation they desire in Parliament.
