Mauritius Delegation Explores Medical Procurement in Chennai

A delegation from Mauritius, led by its Health and Wellness Minister Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, held discussions with officials in Chennai regarding the possibility of the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC) procuring and supplying drugs for the country’s future medical needs.

The decision on this matter will be made after consultations with the Chief Minister, Ministry of External Affairs, and legal experts, stated Health Minister Ma. Subramanian. During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the functioning of TNMSC and the healthcare infrastructure in the state.

The Mauritius delegation’s visit to Chennai aimed to learn from Tamil Nadu’s central medical procurement authority’s setup, with a focus on digitalization and efficient healthcare practices. The delegation also expressed that many patients from Mauritius have been seeking medical treatment in Tamil Nadu over the years. The team planned to visit the TNMSC warehouse in Anna Nagar as part of their learning experience.
