Massive Pile-Up on Yamuna Expressway Due to Dense Fog Near Delhi; Many Injured
In the wake of dense fog engulfing parts of North India, a significant pile-up occurred on the Yamuna Expressway near Greater Noida, resulting in injuries to several individuals and the crash of 12 vehicles. The incident took place at Jewar on the Noida-Agra route, with visuals showing damaged trucks and cars at the site.
The fog reduced visibility to near zero, leading to challenging driving conditions. Videos from the scene revealed construction boards used to demarcate roadside pits, indicating that vehicles may have failed to spot them in the dense fog, resulting in the pile-up. The Jewar incident was one of several such accidents reported during the morning due to the adverse weather conditions. Additionally, a six-vehicle pile-up on the Agra-Lucknow expressway resulted in one fatality and six injuries. Flight and train services were also affected, with delays and halts due to poor visibility.
