Massive Cash Seizure at Chennai Airport Raises Concerns
In a significant development, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force and Customs detained a male passenger at Chennai airport carrying a staggering Rs. 3 crore worth of unaccounted foreign currencies bound for Thailand. The passenger, possessing a tourist visa for Thailand, raised suspicion during routine security checks before his flight to Bangkok.
Upon inspection, the currencies, including US dollars, Euros, and Saudi Riyals, were discovered hidden inside his suitcase. While initial investigations suggest he was merely a carrier, authorities are intensifying efforts to determine the source of the money, with the involvement of the Income Tax department and Election Commission officers in the probe.
