A POCSO court in Bengaluru has handed down a 20-year prison sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a man convicted of raping his minor daughter. The convict, identified as Ramu from Telephone Layout near Srinivasanagar, repeatedly raped his daughter between January and March 2022, resulting in her pregnancy.
Following a complaint, a charge sheet was submitted to the POCSO court, and the accused was convicted by Judge N. Narasamma based on the evidence presented. The judge also ordered the Karnataka Legal Cell Authorities to provide the victim with Rs 7 lakhs in compensation. The accused faced charges under IPC Section 376 (I), (N), and Sections 4, 6, and 8 of the POCSO Act.
