A suburban train traveling on the Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu route experienced a delay of over 30 minutes on Thursday due to an incident involving a man who entered the loco pilot cabin near Chengalpattu. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel swiftly detained the individual, ensuring the safety and relief of the passengers.
According to GRP officials, the train was en route from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu and was approaching its designated platform at a slow pace. In an unusual occurrence, the man positioned himself on the tracks as the train moved slowly. The train’s loco pilot, Karthikeyan, advised the individual to step aside, but he managed to climb onto the engine and enter the cabin.
Karthikeyan promptly left the cabin and alerted the RPF. Responding promptly, RPF and GRP teams arrived on the scene and safely removed the person from the cabin. An investigation revealed that the individual was mentally unstable, leading to his actions. The GRP is now arranging for his admission to a hospital for appropriate care.
