Man Caught Smuggling Over 100 Live Snakes in Trousers

In a bizarre incident, a man was apprehended while attempting to smuggle more than 100 live snakes into mainland China by concealing them in his trousers. Chinese customs officers intercepted the unnamed traveller at the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Upon inspection, they found six canvas drawstring bags tightly packed with various species of snakes, including milk snakes and corn snakes.

The reptiles, of different sizes and colors, were discovered alive but cramped in the pockets of his trousers. China, known for its strict biosecurity laws, prohibits the importation of non-native species without proper authorization. While the authorities seized the snakes and emphasized legal consequences for such actions, they did not specify the exact punishment for the smuggler involved in this audacious wildlife trafficking attempt.
