Majority of 2024 Lok Sabha Winners are Crorepatis: ADR Analysis
An analysis conducted by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that a staggering 93% of candidates who emerged victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are crorepatis, marking a significant increase from 88% in 2019. Among the top three wealthiest winners are TDP’s Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani from Andhra Pradesh, BJP’s Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Telangana, and BJP’s Naveen Jindal from Haryana.
Out of the 543 winning candidates, 504 are crorepatis, indicating a growing trend of wealth among elected representatives. The analysis also underscores disparities within financial profiles, with some candidates boasting substantial assets while others have relatively low worth. Additionally, candidates with high liabilities, such as TDP’s Pemmasani, DMK’s Jagathratchakan, and TDP’s Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy, have been identified.
