In a significant administrative reshuffle, 15 police inspectors in the Greater Chennai City Police limits have been transferred and placed under the vacancy reserve category. The reshuffling, announced through the police communication system, saw the names of the officers being read out, instructing them to report to the control room at the police commissionerate in Vepery.
Primarily stationed in the north and west zones of the city, some of these inspectors were reportedly deemed ineffective in their duties related to curbing the sale of banned tobacco products and other illicit substances. Additionally, over 29 police personnel in the rank of sub-inspector and constable were also transferred in the north and west zones as part of this overhaul.
