Madras HC order is not fully implemented for not used temple strong rooms in TN
Retired Inspector General of Police A.G. Ponn Manickavel has alleged that many temple strong rooms in Tamil Nadu are not being used to safeguard utsava idols, despite a Madras High Court order from 2017. He made these claims during a visit to a Shiva temple in Azhisur, Uthiramerur, in Kancheepuram district. According to Manickavel, the implementation of the court order regarding the use of strong rooms has been incomplete.
The strong rooms were designed to ensure the security and protection of the idols. Manickavel’s comments raise concerns about the failure to utilize these facilities effectively, potentially compromising the safety of the religious artifacts. The matter highlights the need for appropriate measures to be taken to ensure the proper storage and protection of utsava idols in temple strong rooms.
Efforts should be made to address any gaps in implementing the court order to uphold the preservation and reverence of these sacred objects.
