Lucknow Police Establishes Anti-Fraud Cell for High-Value Cases

The Lucknow Police has inaugurated an anti-fraud cell tasked with investigating cases related to cheating, breach of trust, and property disputes, particularly focusing on instances involving amounts exceeding Rs 50 lakh. Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Upendra Agarwal, who previously served with the CBI’s Kolkata unit and supervised major cases such as the Sharda chit fund scam and the Rose Valley scam, will lead the cell.

Comprising 22 inspectors or sub-inspectors, the unit will undergo specialized training in fraud investigation, aiming to enhance the quality of investigations and expedite case resolutions. The cell’s objective is to ensure both complainants and accused parties are heard before filing a charge sheet, aiming to provide fairer, more balanced proceedings in fraud-related cases and ultimately deliver justice to victims.
