Suburban train services on the Chengalpattu-Chennai Beach section faced disruption when a level crossing gate near Singaperumal railway station was damaged by a passing container truck. The incident, occurring around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, led to the halt of trains proceeding towards Tambaram and Chennai Beach, inconveniencing numerous commuters.
Southern Railway’s maintenance staff swiftly responded, repairing the damaged gate within an hour, restoring normal train operations. Despite the quick resolution, the delay affected a significant number of office-goers commuting from Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu, prompting the Chengalpattu Government Railway Police to initiate an investigation into the matter.
